Bali's Mini & Quirky Product Lines & XSitePro

Greetings from Seminyak, Bali.

Weather today is nice - a little cloudy but not too much - about 28 degrees with humidity of 62%.

Sorry haven't blogged for a couple of days - we bought some new software and I have been totalled engrossed learning how to use it - awesome software - it is called XSitePro - it is basically a web development tool that allows you to quickly and easily create professional looking websites. It will save Peter and I endless hours of work - so we are truly excited about it. Okay okay I know I am a total geek - but if you know me at all you know I LUV software and this is such a great tool - I am having heaps of fun with it - stay tuned for links to the sites we have made in future blogs!

Enough of that though - I can hear you non-geeks snoring already.

One thing about Bali I love is their love of tiny product packaging and just plain quirky flavours. So in the name of my blog I have been collecting products that catch my eye.

Yesterday we ventured out to the Callefour Shopping Centre - we have not been there before so were quite interested to see how it goes in comparison to other Bali supermarkets - which tend to be old, not air-conditioned with narrow aisles and limited choices. So we were quite pleased with how big and airy it was - like a K-Mart or Target back in Oz. Had a HUGE range of just about everything (except mock meat! oh well the search continues) - it has clothes, mobile phones, electrical items, toys, etc. The prices were quite reasonable but we particularly liked the quality of the fruit and vegetables - we have been buying our fruit and vegetables at Bintang Supermarket - and as much as we love this supermarket (it is cheap and all the staff are super friendly) - their fruit and vegetables leave a lot to be desired - old and wilting mostly. So we were extremely happy to purchase a pile of fruit and vegetables at this new supermarket - they were great quality and reasonably priced too.

So in the name of my love of mini and quirky items - I picked up the following item and as you can see from my face - I am very amused - it is actually a packet of tiny Chocochips Chocolate Cookies.

They are from Arnotts and are called Good Time Precious Mini - and contain 25g of cookies. Here is a close-up taken next to my mobile phone to show how really tiny the packet is. Have not tried them yet - they cost 990 rupiah (13 cents AUD).

My next mini purchase also has a quirky flavour - Cheese Burger Flavour? - they are called Chiki Potato Stick and they contain a whopping 10g of product - the packet is tiny anyway but most of it is air.

So I just went and opened the packet and this is all that is in it. Mind you it only cost 1,000 rupiah (13 cents).

So Peter and I obviously took ages to eat all the contents - ha ha.

My next mini purchases were a packet of Honey Roasted Peanuts - cost 970 rupiah (13 cents) for 20g.

Garlic Roasted Peanuts at a cost of 975 rupiah (13 cents) for 25g.

Chocolate Roasted Peanuts at a cost of 975 rupiah (13 cents) for 18g.

I also love their packets of lollies - these are a couple of types that I bought - the packets cost about 4-5000 rupiah which is about 50-60 cents AUD. They are normal sized lolly packets but all the lollies are individually wrapped as follows:

They give these lollies out as change at most supermarkets and also at Matahari - so if you are supposed to get a couple of hundred rupiah back - you get a couple of the above lollies instead - very amusing!

My favourite mini purchase has to be the Mini Cornetto pack - I did not notice on purchase how many were in there - thinking maybe 4 - but there are a whopping 12 cornettos in this packet.

But wait - this is how big the actualy cornetto is in my hand - tiny!

They are really just two bites - so cute though.

This next piccie is for my brother Mark - he works for Smiths - so I am sure he will find the following packets vaguely familiar!

Peter buys these a lot - he especially likes the BBQ Curry flavour - UGH???

Anyway that is all for today - hope you like my new style - thought I would concentrate more on things that catch my fancy rather than a blow by blow of my day - but don't worry I shall still tell you what I am doing but concentrate more on a particular topic.
